My name is MizWiz
I am a Moustached Parakeet
I am female
I am right pawed, I think
I don't know my hatchday
I was adopted on Sunday October 21, 2001

The things that I eat (my likes & dislikes):

I LOVE these treats:  Corn, cashews, grapes, tomatoes, chicken wings,  pizza, popcorn, cheeseburger, cheese, raw pasta, stuffing and other  people  munchies (peanut butter cookies, too, lol).

Pellets soaked in juice,  veggies and other fresh fruit are ok, but I have to be convinced to eat them.

What does my house (cage) look like:

I have a huge cage and lots of toys and different kinds of perches to make my feet happy.  I have a big swing in the bottom and the top opens so I can get in and out easily.  My favorite spot is the back corner where I have a little area that is covered and a fuzzy 'birdie buddie' to snuggle with.  It's all safe and cozy and I can hide from everyone when I want.

My personality can be described as:

I'm definitely opinionated, stubborn and 'feisty'.  I can snuggle and hug by rubbing my beak on a cheek or ear, but don't you dare put your hand over my back or head, and I don't like to be petted.  Once in a great while I'll let you stroke my breast, but slowly and not for very long.  I'm shy around strangers and don't like kids or other animals much, but will fly on guests if they're hanging around long enough.  Don't mess with me when I'm angry!  I'll snuggle on your shoulder when I'm in the mood, but I am pretty obedient if I'm not 'nesting'.  And I am funny and cute and a sweetie!  My mommy told me!

The toys I have (my likes and dislikes):

Love balsa wood!  Love whittling my cholla perch and other softer perches.  I have a HUGE manzanita play stand on wheels that I love, with a bungie coil hanging with some toys.  I think it was made for a much larger bird, but my flock was over-enthusiastic at a bird show one day, and I sure don't mind!  They had to wrap the wood in sisel rope, though, because my feet slipped on the manzanita, lol   I also love pinatas and wooden foot toys.  Not plastic stuff so much.  I also have this roll of calculator tape hung on a small perch that I love to unravel and shred.

The sounds that I make (and the words I speak):

My flock taught me to say 'pretty pretty bird', ''such a pretty bird', 'what a pretty bird', what's mommy doin'?', kissy kissy kiss with a big long screechy kissing sound afterwards (or in response to their 'kissy, kissy, kiss').  I love to put them all together in different sentences and with different sounds!

I can really scream, too!  I can do it for long, drawn out time, which definitely drives my flock crazy!  I've been told my scream is not as noisy as other parrots, and having heard some, I'd say I'm not too far off the lower maximum decibals!  Mostly I would scream in the morning and late afternoon, when I'm not happy with being sent home when I don't want to, when my 'daddy' leaves the room, or when I'm locked in my cage for behavior reasons.

Something special about me:

I have a beautiful pink breast and upper belly and gorgeous multi-colored green plummage with two long center tails.   They're to die for!!!  And I'm pretty darn smart, if I do say so myself!
