| Please help me identify my parrot. |
|
|
I don't know the best place to ask for help in identifying the parrot I have recently adopted. If this isn't it, would someone please direct me? In case it is, I will describe her. Her name is Esme, by the way.
About 7" long. Shades of mid-green with a grey head, bright limey green on her back and bright yellow under her wings. Two toes forward, two back and a short tail.
I have hunted around the internet to find pictures of similar birds but so far no luck. If it's possible to post a picture, I could do that. I'm rather new here so don't know if I can or if I have to set up a special page.
Anyway, thanks in advance.  |

First impression I think it might be a lovebird. But since these are quite popular, I guess you have seen pictures of the lovebirds and that your parrot isn't.
You have several options to post your pictures. With {my homepage}, {my parrot(s)} and {my diary} but than you have to set up a page as you describe it. Easiest way in this case is to use {my photo/movie albums} and you can upload your picture. After uploading a picture we all see the message that you have uploaded pictures and we can have a look to make a better judgment. |

Thanks for posting the picture. I would like to see more of Esme. First of all to be sure about the species and of course since we all here like to see pictures of our parrots.
I am almost sure Esme is a meyers parrot. She belongs to the Poicephalus parrots. You can find more about the meyers parrot on following websites;
http://www.avianweb.com/meyersparrots.html

http://www.wingscc.com/aps/meyers.htm
If you see meyers parrots with yellow on their heads, that is normal. When they get older their grey heads get more yellow feathers. |
